I have tutored many family members and friends throughout my academic career, mostly in math related subjects. I feel comfortable with tutoring any high school or even lower level college math subjects. As a tutor, I focus on methods that maximize understanding subject material without unnecessary study time. I can relate to many students because, like them, I don't love studying all day long which has helped me learn techniques that make studying more tolerable. I explain material that relates to students which solidifies fundamental concepts which are imperative for long-term comprehension.
As a mathematics major, I have completed, with exemplary grades, math courses in all areas of computational and theoretical subjects, especially statistics and probability. I have had UC Irvine's Dean's List honors over 6 quarters for keeping a minimum of 3.5 GPA.
In high school, I coached a youth hockey team which helped improve my communication skills and understanding the need for patience with students. Teaching a sport is very similar to tutoring an academic subject in that it takes time and a strong grasp of primary concepts. |
| Hobbies: | I am very involved in volunteering and working with the Japanese and Asian American youth community. I like playing sports and living a fun, laid back lifestyle. |
