Many students become disinterested in a topic for several reasons. One major reason is the lack of applying the topic to the real world, and the continual asking of the following question: "why should we care about this concept?" When I tutor students, I do my best not only to help them with understanding the concepts involved in any subject, but also to help them understand why they should care about the specific concepts they're studying.
