I recently graduated from Rice University with my BS in Chemical Engineering. I will be pursuing my PhD in Chemical Engineering at Penn State this coming fall. My coursework and research in college taught me the rigorous analytical skills needed to solve problems in math and science. My ultimate goal is to teach my students this same mindset in order to tackle new problems they may face in their courses. My teaching philosophy is to give the tools for students to understand the main concepts of the subject in order to break down the larger, scarier problems that inevitably come up. I have tutoring experience in AP math and science courses, as well as SAT and ACT. I also was a Peer Academic Advisor at Rice. My specialty subjects are math, physics, and AP/SAT english. Relevant courses I have taken in college include math and programming up to partial differential equations, as well as engineering physics in thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. I have been a private tutor since high school because I love to give students a fresh perspective on difficult subjects. Oftentimes, learning from only one perspective (of the instructor) can confuse students. I want to teach students core skills from a new perspective and instill the confidence they need to eventually solve difficult problems on their own. These types of study skills will be valuable for students in high school, college, and beyond.
