Experience
I have been a freelance tutor for two years, specializing in a variety of subjects in the humanities. I am well-equipped to better students' communication skills, both written and verbal. I am proficient in essay writing, having taken and excelled in AP English classes throughout high school. My experiences in public speaking school activities such as Mock Trial, Model United Nations, and Speech and Debate have sharpened my verbal communication skills. I have won several awards through MUN, and I was named an Outstanding Attorney through the Constitutional Rights Foundation Mock Trial program. I have experience in helping my students master essay writing at an AP level in high school, for both history and English AP classes. Because I have succeeded in these classes, I know what it takes to teach students how to effectively organize their thoughts and write them down on paper in a timed setting. I have also had success in coaching speaking skills, particularly among young students with stage fright or shyness. I enjoy helping my students become strong speakers because it not only teaches them valuable professional and interpersonal skills, but also raises their confidence and self-image. Besides preparing high school students for their AP classes, I also offer college counseling services, especially essay editing. I am also able to tutor elementary and middle school students in a variety of subjects not limited to English and history, such as math. My ability to edit writing does not only apply to college essays and academic writing, but also extends to giving feedback on any pieces of creative writing, such as short stories and novels. I have a passion for politics, literature, and film! I have had a love for reading since my earliest years, and that love has stayed with me throughout my life. I also love writing, not only for academic settings, but also creative writing. I regularly write stories and am working on two novels.
