Experience
I interned and supervised for an outreach program called Global Connect, where we taught a once a week class at various high schools about globalization and social studies as well as international studies. During this time we tutor and mentor high school students in various aspects of their H.S. lives as well as work with them on entering colleges. This experience and many others I've had have led me to understand that tutoring is so often more than just tutoring. It becomes mentoring and the tutor becomes a mentor for their students. This adds more responsibilities than just a teaching position as well as more honor and life satisfaction to me. Its not every day we get to make such important impacts on another person's life. As a psychology major, I have much training in counseling scenarios as well as an understanding for other people and the patience to carry out tasks with others even through difficult or frustrating situations. As an Anthropology major, I learned that another person's experience is not my own and my ability to communicate with them depends greatly on my ability to see from their eyes and to stand in their shoes. From my resume you will notice much experience teaching and working with children, high school students as well as adults. I am an Eagle Scout, which should speak about my character and ability to work hard and well with others.
