Education
I studied German literature and linguistics at U. C. Irvine, receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Linguistics in 1976. Returning to school in 2004, I earned a Masters of Science in Education in TESOL (ESL) from California State University at Fullerton.
Experience
I frequently teach ESL at the American Language Program at Cal State Fullerton (this will be my 10 year teaching a summer program) and I have been teaching about 8 years for Kaplan at Irvine Valley College. My wife and I have a small, in-home tutoring business in which I have tutored language arts for about 13 years. During that time, I not only taught mainstream English literature and writing, but with my masters in TESOL, I have incorporated ESL and accent reduction into my tutoring. I tutored students of all ages: from grade school, middle school, high school and college to that of adult. In addition, I have also taught numerous audio seminars over the years, having worked in the music industry as a touring sound engineer, which will explain the gap between my language degrees. I have published articles in four countries on church audio. I also teach guitar, starting as a folk player, but I mainly teach rock, blues and jazz.
