Private tutor in Irvine, CA
Education
I'm a speech pathologist with a Master of Science from Eastern Washington University. I received my undergraduate degree at University of Washington in the Speech and Hearing Sciences. I also studied American Sign Language at Seattle Central. While at the University of Washington I was a treasurer on the National Student Speech, Language, and Hearing Association. I enjoyed being involved with a program at a national level while completing my course work. I found that my study skills right out of high school were not where I would have liked them to be, and I was disenchanted by school. Somewhere along the way I found a study method that worked well for me and I found the motivation to stay focused and earn a degree that has allowed me to help others. I would like to provide students with a passion for learning and help them find what techniques work best for them.
Experience
I have worked in a variety of settings and with children ranging from 2 years-18 years. I've implemented the visualizing and verbalizing, crash course in study skills, and zones of regulation programs. I believe my enthusiasm and knowledge of reinforcement make me a great candidate for tutoring. I tend to build rapports with children very easily.

Hobbies
I enjoy a variety of physical activities including running, yoga, swimming, rock climbing, and snow boarding. I am currently learning how to surf and that experience has been amazing. I'm always up for new adventures (one of the reasons I moved down to Southern California from Washington), and I like to try new things. I will bring wonderful energy to our sessions, and look at each child as an individual with specific needs and learning type.
