Experience
* 18 Years of experience in ACT/SAT test prep, majority of HS subjects * Mentoring: HS/college/major planning, college essays and personal statements organizing/editing * Mastery of Irvine area high schools' curricula All it took was one successful spark to light a fire in my heart for teaching. In 6th grade, my first tutoring assignment was to help Michael, a learning-disabled 2nd grader, with reading and remembering words. Somehow, my combination of using phonics and sounding out letters/syllables stuck with him. In high school, I taught many students the subjects I had just taken, discovering how differently people learn. Mnemonics for some, flashcards and highlighters for others; nearly all appreciated a good analogy to relate the information. Upon entering UCLA, I also added college mentoring to my passions, since editing tons of essays and writing personal recommendations for my friends was great fun and help in knowing a student’s life context. After two years, I left school to follow my entrepreneurial dreams. My life experiences, especially as a catering chef and personal trainer, still afforded me tutoring time, and I even took another Calculus class to see if I was missing any approaches (happy to report: nope!). In Los Angeles, my students attended the most prestigious private schools but needed some standardized test prep help. Commuting to North OC as well, I made my reputation as an "800 or Bust!!" SAT Math 2C, Chemistry, and Writing class instructor. By the time I moved to Irvine, I had worked with over 800 students, in private and class sessions, from multiple school districts and with every possible combination of academic schedules. Having taught in Irvine since 2008, I’ve seen every AP textbook, worksheet, and study guide and can create effective strategies tailored for students to truly understand the material, which translates into “getting those grades up.” For this reason specifically, I have worked with many students on a daily basis as their one-stop shop for all subjects, helping with assignments, organization, and study skills across their rigorous academic schedules. Whether you need on-demand cramming the day before a test/essay or long-term tutoring involving every kink in the 4-year HS plan process, it would be my pleasure to help.

Hobbies
Cooking, Reading, Health and Fitness, Mythology, Military Technology and History, Playing with my nieces, Driving... With too many hobbies to list, I would say in short that I enjoy nearly everything and am versed in having 5- to 30-minute conversations about anything fascinating, technical, mundane, past, present, or future. As my students get to to know me, many like to ask me about the science in sci-fi and worldly what-ifs (after our work is complete).
